HOW DO LARGE FAMILIES TRAVEL? THIS IS HOW!
In 2010, our families came together through marriage, forming an instant group of eight. We quickly realized that our vehicles weren't big enough to fit us all. Whether it was heading out for a camping trip, attending football games, or making our way to holiday gatherings, the logistics were always a challenge. Since our kids were too young to drive, we often found ourselves splitting up into two cars just to get everyone to the destination. It was less than ideal, especially when it meant missing out on the togetherness that road trips are supposed to bring.
Determined to find a solution, we realized that a minivan wasn't the right fit for us. We needed something with more space, but something that still felt like it could carry the energy and adventure of a large family. The journey is part of the vacation! That's when we had the idea to create a 6-door pickup.
We envisioned it as a way for us to travel together and create lasting memories during road trips with all the kids. As a self-made entrepreneur, Chad was ready to tackle the challenge. His love for the Ford Super Duty and Powerstroke diesel made Ford the clear choice. With years of mechanical and welding experience and a lot of determination, Chad set out to make it happen.
After months of hard work, Chad completed the transformation of a standard F-250 into our very first 6-door pickup. He sent it off for a sleek 9700 Ford Black paint job, and once it returned, he finished the interior installation. The truck was ready for its first family adventure and we couldn’t have been more excited. The debut trip exceeded our expectations – the truck performed perfectly, and the kids had a blast being together. From that point on, we couldn’t take the 6-door anywhere without drawing attention. Our kids loved every moment of it! Other travelers on the road would snap photos of the truck, often waving at our kids as they did. Fellow campers would come over to ask where we got it, and we were so proud to tell them Chad built it. We even had people ask to take pictures with it!
Chad always said he'd build another 6-door someday – and he was right! After deciding to sell our prototype and test the market, we were met with an overwhelming response. One of our favorite moments was when a family from Platte, SD, came to see the truck. They had five kids and one on the way. One of their boys climbed into the middle row of seats, and when he got out, he tugged on Chad’s shirt sleeve and said, "My butt feels pretty good in that seat!" That innocent comment was the perfect reminder of why we build these trucks: to provide families with the chance to travel together comfortably, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Although they didn't buy our first truck, they eventually purchased one later on. Our first build, full of family memories, found its way into the hands of a wonderful rodeo family in Kansas. Now, they’re filling it up with their own beautiful family, and we couldn’t be happier!
As our own family has continued to grow over the years, we’ve had to think beyond just our kids. The addition of significant others and grandchildren has made our 6-door truck even more essential. When we head out for vacations, family gatherings, or road trips, we can travel with everyone! But it’s not just about convenience; it’s about creating those shared experiences, those moments that bring everyone together. We've since discovered a strong demand for these 6-door pickups. What started as a fun project has turned into a mission to help other families enjoy the same experiences we’ve had. Each 6-door pickup we create helps families experience the world in a way they never thought possible, making every road trip a little bit easier, and a lot more fun. The laughter, the shared stories, and the smiles are worth every effort it takes to get the job done.
